Infinity Systems Engineering has won a subcontract to help build the military's next-generation navigation satellites. On Thursday, May 15, 2008, the Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin Corporation, of Bethesda, MD, a contract worth at least $1.5 billion dollars for the first eight satellites of what is called the Global Positioning System (GPS) III constellation. Infinity's multi-million dollar subcontract is to provide engineering services to Lockheed Martin, with emphasis on issues related to integrating the new satellites into on-going GPS operations. GPS satellites are operated by Air Force Space Command from Schriever Air Force Base, CO, located 10 miles east of Colorado Springs. "We are excited to be a teammate of Lockheed Martin and we look forward to supporting the future of GPS," said Andy Wilfong, President of Infinity. |
